You can make lager. The big difference is that lagering requires more time and also requires a refrigerator with an adjustable temperature control because lagers require precision temp control.

If you have room in your fridge for a fermenter, you might be able to get away without using an additional temperature control. I use my fridge's built-in control and set it on 1 ( least cold ) and it lagers at a perfect 50F. Try it out before you go thinking you need to drop 50-60 bucks on a new thermostat or temp controler - it might not be necessary.
