lager yeast

i am doing a steam beer and this is the 1st time i used lager yeast. how long does it typically take for fermentation to get with lager yeast. the temp is around 64 and its been about 48 hours and still nothing.

Anywho...if you are making a steam you need to up the temperature a little...a steam is made using lager yeast at ale temps.

I just made a O'fest with wyeast Ofest yeast in a 1 quart starter, had nice activity after 8 hours.

I would have recommended making a starter at least 2 days ahead of time using lager yeast.
