Ok, I am going to start lagering and I am contemplating purchasing a fridge for the primary ~50F and a chest freezer for the lager stage ~35F. Is this a good setup? Is anyone else doing the same thing or any different suggestions? Much appreciated!

You will need a separate temp controller to actually power on the fridge/freezer, if you want to have any fine control.

Search the keezer threads and the eBay aquarium temp controller.

Buy a stand up freezer, an auber temp controller, and an rts sensor and use the freezer for fermentation control and for lagering. I use mine in every single beer I brew and love it.

If you want to establish a pipeline and keep it moving, that's a good way to go. Trying to do both with a single unit will put hitches in your get-along ;)

Cheers!

Yes, my goal is to establish a pipeline to keep it moving. Can I serve out of the 35 degree freezer or is that too cold? Would I need an additional kegerator?
