Hey everybody,

This IPA has been in the carboy since last Sunday (January 14th) I went to take a hydrometer reading for the first time, the foam on the top was pretty much gone, beer smelled and tasted pretty good, hydrometer still only at 1.020 (from 1.058) and unfortunately I pushed the bung right into the carboy after taking some for my hydrometer. 5 hours later the beer appears to be active again ... the bung was sanitized and I put a new one on right away.

Think the beer looks ok?

Looks fine, although I'm surprised it still has that much krausen after 9 days. Give it some more time and check gravity again.

The bung splashing (and the retrieval) might have shaken some CO2 loose too. You might just be seeing a slightly shaken beer.

This isn't 1272 yeast, is it? I've seen disappearing/reappearing krausen with that strain.
