What is the best size kettle if I want to do 6 and 12 gallon batches? Would 20 gallon kettles be to big for 6 gallon batches? Should there possibly be combination of 15 and 20 gallon kettles? Looking to build brutus type rig and wonder what size pots to buy.

IMO, a 15 would probably be your best bet, but if you are using this as a boil kettle, the size is not important so long as it is large enough.

I've done 6 and 12 gallon batches in keggles (15.5 gallon kegs) and they work great. Whether you go with a pot or a keg, you just need to be aware of where you put any thermometers....if it is too high on the side of your vessel then the liquid might not even be able to reach it during 6 gallon batches, rendering it useless.
