Once i pressurize a keg, is it possible to leave it in the fridge and just hang out? or is it going to have to have a constant pressure on it at all times for it not to go flat? i found a great local deal for 2 used, but cleaned kegs, with all the needed equip like co2 tanks etc... But i need to know if once a keg is pressurized it can just hang out, while we pressurize the others
 
I would think it would have to be under constant pressure until fully carbonated. After that you can do whatever you want..........OR.......you can just purge the oxygen out and pressurize the keg and leave it and then later when you want to drink it you can hook it up and wait for it to complete carbonation.....

I would personally hook it up now and at least let it carbonate, and if you want beer out of the full keg...hook it up, drink what you want and then set it back.

If you purge the head space with CO2 you can leave it alone for a reasonable time prior to carbonating without any ill effects. It is really a great way to cold condition your beer. I do it with my Big Beers all the time. It also is great for lagering.
 
you could also purge, then fill the kegs with about 20 psi and leave it. the beer will absorb much of this. you definitely want to purge it and put it under some sort of pressure, to ensure the keg seals properly and no nasties are able to get in.
 
Has anyone ever completed a calculation where you added "X" psi to the keg and let is sit without the CO2 attached, and the keg will equalize to the pressure you want?? Does that make sense?

You should build a copper pipe manifold.. they're fairly inexpensive and various how to guides can be found on the internet. There are several board members who have done this as well.. you should check the bottling/keg section of the board.

You do realize that you can't serve the beer unless you've got the pressure hooked up, right?
 
I use one to distribute the same 12 pounds of gas pressure to the four kegs I have on tap. I also have one for the gas lines outside of my fridge. Purge lines and keg sealer/purger. That way all I need is one tank of gas and one dual head regulator. :rockin:

Once your keg is filled with beer and you have purged the headspace of air and replaced it with co2, you put the keg under x amount of pressure to seal the keg gaskets to prevent leakage of gas around the seals. Once you have pressurized the keg the beer will start to absorb the co2. The pressure will equalize once the absorbation has stopped depending on the temperture of the keg. Cold tempertures will make the beer absorb more co2. The beer can be kept a long time refridgerated like this.
If you mean having a tank empty and pressurized, then I say it is OK as long as the tank is clean/sanitized and purged of air. I keep all my kegs this way and they are ready to be used at a moments notice.
Buy the kegs and enjoy homebrewing the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
