So I have a few brews under my belt and am ready to make the move to kegging. I have recently started doing 3 gallon brews just so I could brew more and keep costs down.

My question is: is there a problem with kegging 3 gallons of brew in a 5 gallon keg? I wouldn't think there would be as long as I purge the head space to remove the air. Just curious what everyones opinion is. Thanks in advance for the help!

I do this a lot. I'll bottle 12 and put 4-ish gallons into a keg. I like to use the bottles for competitions or to let them sit and age for a bit longer than I'd keep a keg around for.

Absolutely, keg away!

If you think about it starting with 3 gallons is no different than starting with 5, you'll have only 3 gallons in there at some point.
