Kegerator Help

Putting together a kegerator and I have a quick question...

Is this used at the back of the shank AND at the D Coupler (commercial)?

Some shanks don't use tailpieces and have the barbs as part of them. In those cases, you wouldn't use the tailpiece on back side of the shank. You would still need it on the commercial coupler though.
