I'm planning on purchasing some stuff to convert my bf's minifridge into a kegerator and am trying to figure out the differences between a ball lock and a pin lock. All I can find is a difference in dimensions for cornelius keg and a pull ring relief valve vs a 'fuse' type relief valve. I'm also seeing a lot about converting between the two, but was wondering if anyone can explain the differences/pros and cons better.

Also wondering about size of keg and CO2 tank. Currently looking at this http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=586 but have seen others with bigger CO2 tanks.

Thanks!

You've pretty much described the main differences. The biggest factor is probably being able to find additional kegs locally if needed. I just got a setup, and went with pin locks because they were a bit cheaper. One slightly annoying thing is that it's hard to find smaller kegs that work with pinlock connectors.

A 5lb tank should work for 5-10 kegs or so. I went with that size so a) it would fit inside my fridge with the kegs and b) i could easily carry it on my bike for refills.

It basically is going to come down to preference. All that is different is deminsions and connections

this is where i got mine (pin)

this should lead you in the right direction...but bottom line it doesnt matter, just keep in mind if pin style is bought most replacement parts will have to come from online sources and will generally be cheaper. Ball is what most homebrew shops carry.
