Keg Lid Poppet

I wanted to replace the poppet on this cornelius keg lid with something I could relieve pressure but cant figure this dang thing out despite numerous google searches and fiddling with various tools. Would it suffice to say I should invest in a new keg lid?

A 1/4" driver fits into the hole to remove the PRV.

ok thank you Dr Jeff. I am soaking in brew wash and I assume it counter clockwise to remove. here goes

ok well it seems i am stripping the 1/4 inch driver hole. Maybe a few hard taps like most automotive work requires to break and unseize it.

I use a very large flat blade screwdriver and push hard and turn counter clockwise on diagonal corners.

As far as I know, there’s no way to modify those. You can only replace the plastic valve, if you can find one. They are getting very hard to find. The only other place besides a HBS in Hawaii that I can find online that says they have one in stock is this place.

I bought several from AIH a while ago, but now they are showing “out of stock”.

is it leaking? If not leave it alone. You can vent via the gas in poppit.

After bringing kegs back to life from scrap yard I haven't seen these high pressure relief valves fail. As far as converting them to a spring relief valve I don't think there are many options for mechanical seal would have to be welded .

These cannot be converted to manual PRV lids, your best option is to buy a new one. We have plenty in stock and can ship out today.
