I am working on building the side by side Keezer/ Fermentation chamber that alot of people have already built. My problem is the fridge I got a good deal on is a digital controlled fridgidaire professional. I have 3- stc-1000 controllers on the way so I can do dual fermentation temperatures in the fridge side and serve kegs in the freezer side. My question is what will be the best way to control the compressor while leaving the defrost system in tact?

After going the traditional route and adding a contactor to turn off the compressor, and three relays to control the condensor fan and evaporator fan all engaged and disengaged by an Inkbird ITC-1000 in the freezer compartment I ran into some issues. 1) If the compressor delay is not set to 0 when you plug the fridge in it sends an error code for Power Failure. 2) The unit will cool the freezer to 36 degrees and then shut off, then send error code for Evaporator Fan. Tried using a Kegco temp controller that plugs into the wall to power the fridge on and off and that did not work either.

I was able to get it working. Simpler than I would've ever imagined. Removed all of the extra contactors and relays I had installed. Found a chart for the resistance and temperature scales of the thermistors that signal the control board and added some resistors inline to fool the controller. Works like a champ, set the freezer to 0 degrees and it stops at 36-38 degrees. Everything else functions as from the factory. With a price tag of 1.49 from Radio Shack.
