Keeping lid on pot during boil

I will be using a Nuwave PIC Pro to boil my next batch of beer. For a 3 gallon boil it took about 50 minutes to get there it has a strong boil with lid on but when removing lid it tapers off to light boil. How will leaving lid on affect it.
 
IIRC boiling with the lid on will not allow the vapors you want to evaporate to escape and can/will cause off flavors, especially DMS.. See below.

You could have a compound called DMS which will create off flavors in your beer. You want to keep the lid off.

If you brew extract, I'm willing to bet much, if not all of the DMS has been removed by the maltster when they boiled it, before it was condensed to syrup or powder.

The best method for extract brewing is to add 1/3 of extract at the beginning of the boil and the rest at flameout or 5 minutes before. It makes better beer. So does keeping fermentation temperatures on the lower side of your yeast's range.

So for extract, you can leave the lid on or part ways, you should be OK. But I would still crack the lid a little to prevent boil overs. Or use one drop (no more) of Fermcap-S per gallon.

If you have problems boiling a large volume in a large pot, on a stove or your induction plate, you can split the boil over 2 or 3 pots and combine in the fermentor. Add your hops and other boil ingredients proportionally to each.
 
It brought to boil in 50 minutes. If I leave lid on partially cracked it maintains strong boil. Also tested to see if it holds temps well for mashing. Put 2 gallons in pot and brought it to 155 degrees and set it there and it's holding within a couple degrees each way. So looking good. Best part is it doesn't heat up the kitchen like the stove top burner would and I even have it sitting on a cutting board and the cutting board isn't even Luke warm. Looking like a winner for brewing.
 
Making a Mack and jack clone next weekend so will be using the PIC. For the mashing and boiling
 
If you're not recirculating your mash through a pump, make sure to stir it frequently. Leaving the mash on the burner is going to create hot spots. IMO it would be better to hit your temperature by getting your strike water to the right temp and then cover the mash tun with a bunch of towels/blankets or leave it in a warm oven.
