Hello!

My wife got me started with a new kit for an early Christmas gift with orders to keep her supplied with porter or stout. (She is a rare and perfect lady) I have brewed and tasted the ingredients that came with the kit (a pale ale) and it turned out pretty well. I have my wife's stout in the fermenter now, and it's smelling great. I'm pretty excited about this new hobby. It appeals to my obsessive and meticulous nature. I love fiddling with intricate and esoteric stuff. I already have plans for all-grain equipment. I will probably build much of it myself. I am a contractor, so building is in my nature.

I have been lurking around the outside of this site for some time. I decided that I should probably join up and not be so creepy anymore. This site has been a wealth of information so far, and I can't wait to further my knowledge and experience.

Thank you guys, for the help so far, and hello from one of the younger homebrew states!

Welcome to the addiction I mean hobby, DIY is your friend it will help keep some of the investment costs down so you can use the savings to buy more ingredients for more beer!

Welcome to the fun! That is exactly how I got started in 1993 when I was living in Tuscaloosa--wife bought me a beer-in-a-bag kit. Took another 7 years before I brewed my second batch, but then I went for broke. You're in for a wild ride.
