Hello all going to start a new project and been doing some reading online/ taking to other Brewers on how to build. My question is on the SS coil, is it necessary to use SS or will copper work? I have a buddy who uses copper, but I heard might be have issues with off flavored beer. Any though, concerns or opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Well... A lot of jockey boxes use copper lines. Its far cheaper than stainless. Verdigris can form in the lines and is bad for you and will be dissolved by the acidity of the beer. You will need to be sure to clean the lines thoroughly and I would suggest run some starsan or other acid sanitizer through to dissolve any verdigris before running beer through it. You can make copper work, but SS is preferable. Copper is not bad for unfermented wort, but it is better to not let it touch things after fermentation (when the beer is acidic).
