Is this a good starter kit?

Hi, my name is James. I'm new to the forum and am here to ask for advice on getting my father-in-law his first home brew kit. He's a long time beer aficionado who is ready to home brew, so my wife and I would like to surprise him with a dependable home brew kit this christmas.

After searching around here and reading all of the FAQs, I searched for a kit that included a few important things like a glass carboy and an auto siphon. Here's what I came up with.

Is this kit worthwhile? Or should I consider something else that may be better?

thats pretty much everything he'll need to start brewing, price seems comparable to other things I've seen. As he gets better/more into brewing he can slowly upgrade his equipment. I say go for it.

What a nice SIL you are. The kit is a good place to start. If he is like the rest of us, he will add additional toys as time and money permit.
