I just got 6 gallons of fresh pressed cider from a local mill. Threw the Camden tablets and the Pectin Enzyme on it and waited to pitch yeast.

I recently has some Cider bros strawberry and thought that might be fun to try so I added 2 lbs of strawberries to the cider prior to pitching. The plan was to add them to primery and secondary. I cut them up and sanitized them but I don't think I got them all the way sanitized. After 6 hours I went to check tout see if the fermintation had started. I couldn't resent and pulled the airlock out so I could get a smell.

The smell I got was.....not pleasant. It didn't have the apple smell but had a strong strawberry smell. Like....strawberries left in a hot car smell.

Did I not get the berries pasteurized? Or is this odor going to dissipate as fermintation goes along?

I think you'll be alright. It's fermenting.

Give it time. I'm sure a cider expert will be along shortly.
