I am fairly new to all grain brewing but have brewed extensively with both extract and partial mash.
I made a german alt bier two days ago using white labs german ale/kolsch yeast (WLP029). I made a starter culture and it showed signs of fermentation after just a few hrs. Today I noticed it had a strong fermenting ale smell but also kinda like rotten eggs.
I've always been a nut about sanitation and have never had a batch with off flavors. Does it sound like its infected or is this normal??
