Is dry hopping needed for intense hop beer style like some APA or IPA when using both mentionned techniques?

For me? Yes. FWH gives you bitterness and whirlpooling gives you a slight bitterness and some aroma. But for that pure hop smell and "hop taste", you need to dry hop. Fermentation just plays havoc with that.....Just my opinion.

I definitely notice a lot more aroma with a whirlpool than just late boil hops, but still feel a dry hop is needed. Can use less hops though for the dry hop.
