Want desperately to convert to kegging. I'm looking at getting a 3 keg system from Midwest. Includes 3 reconditioned cornies, quick connects for gas and beer, line, regulator, picnic taps, 3 way manifold and new 5#CO2 tank. Also adding a guage cage. Total is $258 + $36 shipping for a total of $294.

Good deal? Bad Idea? I've heard great feedback on Midwest, Austin and some others, just looks like the best price right now and I want to keg!!! Have 15 gallons I don't want to bottle, nnoooooo please no bottles...

If you cannot find the items locally that's probably not too bad of a deal. Funny thing about the progression of bottling to kegging. We started out bottling of course and then moved to keg's and Pig's, now we seem to be moving back more towards bottles if only for the sharing factor.

LHBS has single keg system for $210. That's why I'm looking to e-commerce. I get my supplies from them and have no problems/complaints. Great folks. Equiment is another story though.

You can still bottle from carbed kegs (or split batch). Still think it's easier cleaning one keg to 24+ bottles...

Side note, found local distributor with Grolsch swingtops! SCORE! (still like $40 after tax, not terrible...)

I got their two keg system for $200. It's a good starter system, I like it.

Since then, I have bought six more kegs. Two batches kegged, four more batches will be kegged in the next month.

Once you start, it never ends...

I would say that it's probably the best deal you'll find online.

Look on CL too. There's always stuff around that people are looking to get rid of. But all in all, for what you're getting there, it isn't bad.

I've been hounding CL for a couple of months. Getting pressure from those 15 gallons staring at me, silently screaming their anxiety and fear of entering yet another glass enclosure. That beer yearns the cool darkness encountered in a safe SS Cornie and the bliss of shooting through the beer line directly into a waiting glass....

I just want my beer to grow up and be happy!

I did the same thing. Started out bottling, moved to kegging half of each batch, and now I'm back to mostly bottling. Bottling is a bit more work, but for the ease of traveling and sharing it works out better for me. Although I'll be supplying several kegs for a friends wedding, so they still have their place.

Merry Happy XMAS/BDAY to me!:ban:

Need to finish the keggerator build now. My beers will be so happy, they are promising to taste better from the first sip!

Fedex left my new system on my front porch this afternoon!:rockin:

Can't wait to get home and see all my new toys. Just hope SWMBO isn't too mad about swithing to kegging. I seem to have forgotten to tell her I decided to do this.:p

Ah ha... another follower of the "it's easier to get forgiveness than permission" theory I see.

And the epiphany occured! When she asked about space to store tupperware for small home business, I gave up the large storage area I was using for bottles. She likes having beer on tap. :ban:
