The mayor of Portland, OR just announced that he's hiring a new police chief. The new chief's name? Antoinette Outlaw.

Ironic and unfortunate. She could've had a great career robbing stagecoaches, holding up the mercantile, and rustling up trouble at the local saloon.

I did not know that, but that doesn't necessarily preclude her from being referred to as Ms., although if I ever happen to run into her in her capacity as police chief there will be a lot of "Yes, Ma'am" going on.
