I am brewing this weekend and I forgot to get Whirlfloc.

I do have some Irish moss in my garden that didn't make it through the winter and is dead and dry. Would it be as simple as plucking some, washing it, crushing it up and throwing it in the boil? If so, how much?

Or should I just make the trip to the LHBS and get some whirlfloc?

The brew is my first partial mash (BIAB for the mash) and the crushed grain I ordered has some pretty floury bits (so I am pretty sure fining will be a necessity)

The irish moss used for brewing is made from seaweed, so I'm guessing what is growing in your garden is probably something different... I would run to the LHBS.

Ahhh, silly me. This is what i (tried to) have in my garden whereas this is what is used for fining. Drat! Why can't one thing be called one thing and the other be called something else!
