So I have some Centennial/Crystal/Huell Melon/Cascade hops coming in, along with LME and a pound of Crystal 40.

What does everyone think of the following recipe? Any suggestions?

0.5 lb - American - Caramel / Crystal 40L (7.7%)

0.5 oz - Centennial, Type: Pellet, AA: 10, Use: Boil for 60 min
0.5 oz - Huell Melon, Type: Pellet, AA: 7.2, Use: Boil for 60 min

0.5 oz - Centennial, Type: Pellet,, AA: 10, Use: Boil for 30 min
0.5 oz - Huell Melon, Type: Pellet, AA: 7.2, Use: Boil for 30 min

0.5 oz - Centennial, Type: Pellet, AA: 10, Use: Boil for 0 min
0.5 oz - Huell Melon, Type: Pellet, AA: 7.2, Use: Boil for 0 min

I'm sure it will be fine depending on what you want.

I would lower or remove the crystal 40. For such a strong beer with so much extract, escpecially LME, the c40 would not be needed.
I would move the 60 min to 30 min and just do a 30 min boil.

I agree with STMF. The Crystal will most probably just muddle the overall beer. Hops will shine better with a clean malt base. Huell Melon is not really that potent, so if you can, you should double it. Maybe a 2:1 ratio for Huell to Centennial.

Also, I can see you are going for a Double IPA, at least the ABV and OG reflect that. In that case, you are way low on hops. If it's not a DIPA you are after, I recommend cutting the ABV down to 5.5%-ish and keep the amount of hops. For a DIPA you really need a bit more hops: at least 5 oz in the whirlpool and as much in the dry hop. Otherwise you will end up with an Imperialised Pale/Golden ale. Dry hop time: 24 to 72 hours is plenty.
