As the title suggests, I’m on day 4 of my first ever brew, so I decided to do a simple mead and cyser. So far the mead looks aces, but I’m worried by the cyser. I had to replace the airlock after two days, then resort to a blow off tube the day after due to extreme foaming issues. I’m worried it got infected in the swapping, although I think I’ve seen beer pictures where that stuff at the bottom of the carboy is normal

There's no reason to worry about contamination.

It's best to start with a blow-off tube, in order to avoid a big mess.

That's a lot of sediment for apple juice. What did you use to make it?

Welcome to HBT! Cheers

I used Whole Foods all natural organic apple juice. All the jugs came with sediment at the bottom :/ do you think that sediment will compress a bit? When looking into it, I saw a beer brewing thread saying it will compress, but I’m not sure if that will happen with my cyser

It will with time, once fermentation finishes.

I suspect you may need to age that for a while.
