I made a starter using wlp037 two weeks ago I wasn't able to brew as palnned so I sanitized a mason jar and have been holding it in my beer fridge. Today I looked inside and found these white formations on the top of the cake. It has a slight sour smell to it. Would hate to dump infected yeast on perfectly good wort. Thanks

Don't dump it!! wait for more replies on here, Or taste it... I would I would try to get underneath the stuff and see what it taste like.

Edit: I thought it was a full batch Sorry, I would just dump it too.

It's gone I already dumped it. I will have to delay my next brewday while I grow more yeast.

Don't give up so easy.

I was willing to give up on it since it was a starter... If it was my 10gal batch I would have gave it every oppurtunity in the world.
