So I am brewing an Imperial IPA with cascade hops only and I was thinking about adding some grapefruit zest with I dry-hop. I would just throw it in the bag with the hops and let it sit for about 7 days and then it would be removed. Do you think that this will work?

I think you can skip this altogether. Cascade has plenty of grapefruit notes if you use a bunch of it late and in the dryhop.

i used about 4 oz for aroma hops and ill be dry-hopping with another 4 ozm once yeast activity and krausen has died down.

I often do this with my IIPAs...usually two zested grapefruits at flameout, might even add a 5 minute addition as well, but two more in the dryhop. If you drink them young you'll never know. If you wait a few months, the zest sort acts like its extending the hop flavor of cascade, centennial, etc.
