I made a 2L starter using Wyeast 1056, but I don't have a stir plate and I wanted to make sure that I had enough to pitch, so just to make sure I went to my LHBS to pick up another smack pack but they were out of 1056. I grabbed a vial of WLP001 to use as a substitute. Has anyone had any negative experiences with pitching 2 different strains? I don't suspect it will be a problem, but I am a novice.

Nope, especially those two which are very similar in character. If you use two very different strains one may dominate, but those are both fairly clean and neutral so you should have no problem at all. WLP001 is the perfect substitute for WY1056 so you made the right choice.
