I think I'm not supposed to ask this but... about how much does DME weigh per some unit of volume?

I'm struggling to find an estimate of this. I assume that's because it's like flour and can be packed down, so I shouldn't be measuring it by volume anyways.

... It's just that I'm without a scale for a little while and I have an unknown quantity of DME, and hops. If I have less than 1 lb / gallon, I'll wait. If I have more than 2, I'll split it up. Anywhere in between those, I'll call it close enough - I truly don't care to be exact this time.

Is there somewhere I should have looked for a rough approximation? Alternatively, would anyone be willing to weigh a cup of DME? 😅

I'll measure later on, but I can get you close... I use a 1 cup scooper to weigh out my starters and I think I generally do about 5 heaping cups - so 1 ounce a cup-ish?

from google:
A cup (8 fluid ounces) of dry malt extract (DME) weighs about 5.8 ounces (0.69 grams per milliliter). A pound of DME is roughly equivalent to 2.75 cups, or 22 fluid ounces.
