Thank you, Cindy for your kind words. I am a Deputy Sheriff in the New Orleans area, which is not the safest area of the country right now.
"When NOLA evacuated after Katrina, Texas had NEVER seen criminals like the ones out of there, it was like, these people did not come from a civilized society. Very scary as they started shooting up Texas, burning cars in the streets, doing drugs i the open, kicking in doors at apartments. very glad that most chose to go back because its another world down there!"
I am very proud of the person I have become. I am a honest, caring and giving person. Sure, in my line of work I have to put on my "game face" and face whoever threatens me or the people I am sworn to protect. I truly belive that kharma plays a big role in our everyday life. I always look for the good in people, not the bad. I have been shot at 13 times (in my own country) and have not have been hit, but while deployed to Iraq in 2003, I got shot in the leg twice trying to rescue another soldier but I was lucky only to receive 13 screws and 2 rods in my lower right leg. Could have been killed if the shooter was a better shot (Haha). I would give my life to save another soldier. I was tasked with providing security escorts for VIP's (very important people) and providing convoy escorts in and out of Baghdad. Unfortunatley, I had to shoot 36 people during my tour. That still haunts me today, but it was my duty to my country and my fellow soldiers.
Most recent, while working traffic control for a fatality accident Sat night, I was attempting to top traffic. As I stood in the lane, (four lane hwy) I had one lane stopped and was attempting to stop traffic in the other lane, when I heard the sound of a approaching vehicle. I looked to that direction and saw a vehicle approx 10 feet from me (as I was standng in the lane), I jumped out of the lane and into the neutral ground (median) and missed being hit by, maybe 3 feet. (55 mph zone BTW).
So, yes. I believe in good kharma. Good things happen to good people. Live your life like there is no tomorrow (and enjoy good beer). :rockin:
