I won't even admit to some of the things I'm fermenting in. This week I plan to get more on the way.

Actually, granddad left behind tons of glass car boy type fermenters he used back in the day. But, I don't think it was beer he was making.
Shiny. :D

Have you thought about doing some smaller batches? Less risk in experimenting that way, and you have 20 brews available and still have fewer then 200 bottles.

I have already started getting away from the 5 gallon kits and doing my own thing. If it can be fermented, I'll probably end up fermenting it. The cheap grain at the feed store.... Hot Florida summers, I think I got a natural malter and I already know know to germinate grain in bulk.

Yep, my last comment was just to Sharona and came from a different person inside me. We're just brewing beer and mead and having fun. :D
Good to hear.. I've been preoccupied lately with finding new work. I've been working here for 13 years so it's scary, but it's time to move on. I've got some amazing prospects ahead of me though, so also exciting.

Yup, just finished getting the last of my old brews out of screwtops and into cork bottles.

I also bottled 8 more 750ml bottles of that cider, and I still have 3 gallons left.... Ok. I like cider, but holy not that much. I'll have to see if anybody at work has bottles they want filled.

Hmm, I've got 20 gallons of fermentation capacity. If I borrow the food grade buckets I bought for food storage I could manage another 30...
I had that same problem last year, but on a slightly grander scale ;) there's some cases full you can't see on the floor.

I've thought about it. The climate here is good, and I've got the space. The thing is, I've never had a beer I really enjoy. So, why?

 I've never really had a beer I didn't enjoy. Even without flavor, I like water too, so something in the middle tastes good.

You could grow to trade! This summer, in June, we'll have more blackberries than 10 people can pick in 10 days straight. Blackberry wine. But, don't really care for wine, beer is my preference.

And I'm talking about 12 hour days picking, sun up to sun set. They sold for $25.00 a gallon all day long last year. Hoping for even more growing this year. They grow wild and everywhere you look when they are in season.

When I was in school, I used to get teachers and classmates mixed up if they had the same color/style hair. In the 70s/80s hair was so distracting. Growing up that way ruined me, I blame growing up in the 70s/80s now. Glad now it's less about the hair and more about faces... and bodies. The way it used to be.

The hot tub is ready if anyone wants to strip down and get in.

I could do that I suppose. I'm not sure I'll have time to get much more in the ground this year though. I've got, strawberries, grapes, asparagus, pecans, black walnuts, lilac, and lavender ordered for this year.

I managed to get blueberries, blackberries, and fall blooming crocus in the ground last fall.

I need to build raised beds for the strawberries before they get here too.

With that, fixing up the house, and working 50ish hour weeks, I'm not sure I'll have time for much more.

Dang, it's cold outside!! Better keep your clothes on!

Wishing it was summertime....

Edited: wait, that's an awful track tape.... Need a different song about summer.

I love growing things too. Not even ordering seeds this year though, gonna try my luck with all of last year's extra seed. I'd have to look through the seed packets to list them all. So much to do, so little time.... Know the feeling.

Oh man I should not have brewed. Sore and I suspect looking like a horse rode hard and put away wet....But happy:D

My wife pulls seeds from all the plants we grew from the previous year and plants them. Seems to work pretty good so far.

Sigh I am going to finish this porter and head to bed I think. But I will sleep well knowing that I got more beer a brewing:ban:

My boss is sick and had to come in to work so I'm sitting in the corner like the dunce as far away from him as I can. I think he's going to take off in a couple hours, leaving me all alone to respond. Takes on a whole different level working EMS without a partner. You really rely on citizens with CPR/First Aid training and law enforcement until you can have another EMS unit how up to assist.

I would think you would almost have to have a partner with you. Not from medical knowledge but I watch tv and it takes more than one dude to get the people in the ambulance

Nope one guy is all it takes. I'm a facility EMT on a reservation. We do fire and EMS for the Casino, reservation and surrounding areas. We are able to clear the majority of calls, an only call for an Advanced Life Support rig if we need to. We pull resources from the Sheriff, Tribal Police, and Casino Security if we're alone and need them. It's very rare we're alone though. Maybe 4hrs of a shift once or twice a month.

Well sir I have nothing but admiration for you. Last night I watched a show on the Air Forces Air rescue team and they had to rescue a guy that had his leg blown off. Just keeping him alive to get to the Dr was a amazing feat. I cannot imagine the stress involved.

Thank you, I appreciate it more than you know. In the past year we've only gotten one thank you letter for our entire department.
I've been a technical, alpine and swiftwater rescuer for the past 6 years. It's refreshing to have more live patients than dead ones now. The scenery and opportunities, and the chance at occasional subjects found alive make it worthwhile though.
Is give anything to be able to do this for a living.

I'm glad there are people like you who want to do alpine and swift water rescue. I don't even want to play in those places!

What do you recommend as a corker for belgian/champagne bottles with cork & cap?

My LHBS only sells the floor corkers which will work for wine bottles, but not for a belgian and I've got a mead that I wish to bottle sparkling.

Cap's off to you snaps10!
No "Thank you letters"?
Ungrateful bastages....just know it IS appreciated.

Itching so bad to be able to drink from my first batch.
Bottled #2 last night and we shall see about #3 soon.
The auto-siphon was a life saver.
Too easy...thanks to all for the suggestions.

If you haven't gotten a vinator yet, I suggest that as the greatest bottling day savior!

Hats off to you and everyone in your field. One of those professions it is easy to take for granted, until you really need them! :mug:

I highly suggest getting kids if you haven't yet. They're the single best thing I've gotten for bottling day. I haven't bottled a single bottle off of the past three that I've done.

If I let my son bottle, then every one would be infected!
