I brewed a Black rye IPA and a brown ale a little over 3 weeks ago. I decided to open one of each after a week conditioning with low expectations. I was blown away with how great it was. They where both very well carbonated and tasted amazing. I love craft beer maybe I am bias but I think there better then the Breckenridge brews I am drinking right now. I loved drinking my beer but I'll be good and let them sit another week or two. So glad I have a cocoa milk stout and a Belgium blonde fermenting right now. I love this why didn't I do this years ago?????? Thanks for reading my rant

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I tried my first homebrew. Welcome to the obsession. Remember, if someone brews it, so can you.

Yes they where extract kits. A local home brew supplier with the black Rye IPA and the Brown is caribou slobber that came with my kit.

Yeah, the rabbit hole is definitely a lot deeper than you originally think when it comes to this hobby

I think the slobber is good rich with a coffee and dark chocolate presents. The black rye ipa is more my speed it's very unique. I'm in love with both beers and can't wait to try the cocoa milk stout and the Belgium blonde that's fermenting as we speak. You'll be surprised on how good home brew is if you love craft beer

I'm only one batch ahead of you - although my second one was half extract/half grain, and the last three have been all-grain. If you hurry, you can catch up....:mug:

The title of the thread was irresistible. I had to click on it, because we all remember our first brew, probably better than we remember our first shag.

Now, I'm sure your beer was as good as you say it was. I have no reason to doubt it......But hear this, it could also be total crap, because you love it just like you loved that first shag with the ugly girl behind the dumpster. You could be simply blinded by lust.

If you scored Megan Fox on your first brew, then well done!! Be careful though, your next brew could still turn out to be Renée Zellweger. Most of my first brews were Renee's uglier sisters, but I just closed my eyes and let them do their stuff on me anyway. It was all good, I was convinced it was Megan.

Call, me a cynic, but I honestly doubt that you are banging Megan Fox as you so stridently claim, you naughty little deluded liar you..............But you will certainly be banging her in the future.......Then you will look back on that ugly brew you just had, and regard that ugly lay with the same affection that you have for the super model you will be banging soon.

Yep, you're a cynic. If he was brewing extract and following directions closely, he may have wound up with some pretty darned good beer....

And by the way: I had my share of ugly girls in my youth, and enjoyed some of them immensely. But I was never blind; I knew they were ugly. ;)

Hey it's better then the lucky u ipa I was drinking from Breckenridge brewery. I know good beer we have a lot if not some of the best beer in the world in my backyard. The recipe is from a great homebrew shop in Denver. There's a lot better craft beer out there but I am still very pleased and love the flavor of it. I have a keg of pbr that's like banging Hillary Clinton BTW I got the keg for free fixing my neighbors furnace. It'll probably go bad before I drink it.

Congrats!

I have two brews bottled... I'm going to wait three weeks before cracking either... it has been one week.. so two weeks to go.

I can make it.

Have another fermenting, and I have two recipes/ingredients waiting in the wings to be brewed... so much fun. Hope my first two turn out well. (I tasted the flat beers after bottling and both were pretty nice)

I tried both and they where very carbonated. I bottled after two weeks in the primary and final sp gravity was reached. Someone told me if you bottle after two weeks instead of 3 they carb better this is for lower gravity beers of course. Good luck I hope it's great.
