I am looking at getting a kegerator and kegging my beer. Couple questions.

I have been conversing with some people on reddit who have lead me to believe (I did come to this conclusion by myself) that using a corny keg will be a pain in the a** because I will be required to find a keg connector which fits one.

I am hoping to buy either this kit or something like this kit
http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/kegerator-conversion-kits-pid-RCK-ST-2.html

as I am told, this will not attach easily to a corny keg.

So my question: is it easier to find a different kind of keg (and if so where do I get that/what is it called) or to use a different keg connector and stick with the corny kegs?

In addition, if you know of a different kit or have a recommendation of something that will work better please let me know.

So thanks in advance HBT. You are all so knowledgeable and I would be completely lost were it not for you.

Some extra info that may or may not be helpful to you (I wouldn't bother reading it unless you need to):

I am planning to get a small fridge or a minifridge, around 4.5-5 cu.ft. and use that. So to that end, I prefer the tower taps to ones that stick through the door with a shank. For this reason, the solution to my problem also must not take more space than the corny kegs would.

The size thing is not something I have the luxury of having an option about, otherwise I would be doing a keezer with a countertop and the like.

Corny kegs are not a pain, the connections are very easy to find. Any homebrew supply can get you lines and connections. Corny Kegs are cheap, availible and widly used in homebrewing. Just buy a fridge conversion kit that is set up for corny kegs and you will be fine, it is no more expensive then going for a conversion using a 1/2 barrel keg.

First of all, it is soooooooo easy to find corny attachments.

It will not only not attach easily, it will not attach whatsoever! I think you're being fed some really bad information. The kit you're showing is for a sanke keg, or what commercial breweries use. You can definitely set those up in a kegerator to but used with a sanke keg... but most definitely not a corny.

You need something like this:

A simple and quick Google search will yield you the same things from all kinds of online retailers. The people you're conversing with on reddit are either gigantic idiots or trolling you.

Unless you happen to have access to a cheap source for 1/6 bbl sankey kegs, it's much easier (and cheaper) to use corny kegs. Even if you did have a bunch of sankey kegs, they take up slightly more space than corny kegs, which it sounds like would be a bad thing in your situation. How on earth did you come to the conclusion that corny keg disconnects are hard to find? Even the place you're thinking of buying the kit from sells them- http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/keg-taps-couplers-cid-51.html, and they're far cheaper than sankey couplers. You could probably buy the kit you linked, keep one of the sankey couplers in case you ever want to serve a commercial keg, and sell the other one for enough to cover most of the cost of two sets of corny QD's.

ding ding ding... give the man a keg of homebrew... he's exactly right. someone told you how to connect a 1/2 barrel, not a 1/6

I have no firsthand experience, but there are numerous threads here about kegkits.com (AKA Tom Hargrave) taking weeks and even months to ship orders, and many accusations of outright fraud. You might want to run a search before buying.

I did not see that (and I looked pretty hard) That said, I found and think I will buy this kit.

Well, unless you have a CO2 tank and two kegs that kit is worthless. You have to be extra careful when buying keg kits from third-party vendors. The pitures always have kegs and CO2 tanks in the pictures but, of course, they're not included.. people don't notice the often fine-print and get something they aren't looking for.

Seriously, go to kegconnection.com for a starter kit. They really are the best and, as far as I have found, the best deal. Customer service is fantastic as well.
