for the first time in a LONG time.

I embarked on my YEAR of not drinking.....which lasted 5 months.(of not drinking)

At which point I justified (and rightly so) drinking.........

I now find myself dating, and drinking because that is part of a date!

I don't want to date a born again christian non-drinker....so I will come off as a prude if I don't drink.....right??!??!?!?

I have managed to avoid getting "drunk" until tonight......at which point I took it out on HBT.

I love you guys...and girls......

I don't think we have many differences- well, except you're a guy. There is that.

5 months without a beer. The last time I did that was before I joined the Air Force. Beer is just too good not to drink it for five months.

Seriously... more power to you. Not sure I could abstain that long myself. I like beer too much. The longest I've gone without a beer in the last 20 years could be measured by weeks, not months.

I'm on my fourth day without a beer, I'm trying to eat healthy and shed some pounds. aka- beer fat.

I gotta do this too. I am trying the "workout and eat healthy with still drinking beer diets." Any suggestions?

I also am trying to shed some of the beer weight off. My wife and I are doing the fast metabolism diet. It's a good book. You have to follow a strict diet for 28 days (no beer) :( but you lose a lot of weight. My father just lost 27 pounds and I have already lost 15 in 2 weeks.

See, the no beer is a problem. But I guess if it is too get back in shape I am willing to do it. I would rather be fit and drinking beer then fat and drinking beer.

I am also not drinking beer to shed some of the beer belly. I can drink beer and run/bike/workout everyday and lose weight at the same rate as if I were to just stop drinking beer but not have to run/bike/workout everyday... So for me I went the no beer for as long as I can....which wont be that long lol

Good for you, Cheezy! I also tried to quit. I have a head cold and told myself I'm not going to drink until I feel better. But The Tigers were on, and my scratchy throat convinced me to drink a Chocolate porter last night, so I lasted.... About 24 hours...

On the plus side, after a restless evening and small amount of sweating, I woke up feeling much better, so yay beer!

I don't think I've gone 24 hours without a beer in a long, long time. I love it, and always have a couple of homebrews.

If I had to quit for medical reasons, I wouldn't be too happy about it!

Luckily, I eat a very healthy diet and am active so I'm very fit.

I haven't had a doughnut in more than 25 years. I don't eat refined grains or any sugar. (I drink my grains! :D)

It is easy. Have beer instead of dinner.

I quit 6 times last week and twice yesterday. I can quit anytime I want. It just doesn't last very long. I really like beer.
Welcome back Cheesy.

Ha!

i have found that a beer after running and eating healthy allows me to actually lose weight. i also drink a truckload of water.

I'm still in the middle of a forced dry spell, or rather, at the tail end of a 9 month hiatus. Once the baby comes though it's on. Besides, I have a batch of Irish Red that's just waiting for (and begging) me to taste it.

Congrats on going 5 months "just 'cause". But still, welcome back. :)

I tried to do this when my wife was pregnant. I lasted about 2 days... her mood swings drove me back to it. It's all I could do to cope with the demon who took over my awesome wife!

It is easy really (well not really). I workout in morning before work, usually 4-5 times a week and then just watch calorie intake. Beer is generally 150-250 calories a glass so I adjust accordingly. During the work week I limit myself to 1 a day and maybe 2-3 on Fri/Sat.

I am 6ft, 200 lbs, (having dropped 35 lbs)in pretty good shape (have about another 15 lbs to lose) so I take in about 2200 calories a day. Try to eat lean, chicken, fish, a few carbs and then a beer or two.

It takes time and dedication but the change for me is now ritual. The first few weeks were hard but I stuck with it.

I do an Insanity/p90x combo to vary up my workouts.
