Howdy folks,

Shawn here from Southern Illinois, USA. I am 30, male and I am particularly a newbie to beer brewing only to have experienced using Mr. Beer kit brewing but I really want to go further especially with making my own ingredients and such.

A bit about me-I am a busy person but yet I find time to add new hobbies that require time haha. My hobbies include running message forums (don't worry, I don't run a beer forum, so I am not a pesky competitor :p), blogging and content marketing, cycling (big into road biking), photography (Nikon D3100, big into HDR Toning) and vaping (e-cigs).

I work in management and an assistant fire chief and I am getting a M.s. in Emergency Management studies and plans to move forward for a PhD concentrating in enterprise homeland security and emergency management. I hope to one day work in the private sector and maybe eventually start my own private sector disaster-mitigation/preparedness related contracting business.

I am a Freemason, Shriner and certified storm spotters - yes, I've chased tornadoes!

Like I said, I am a busy fella!

Thanks for having me, folks! :)

Howdy. I've always wondered about Mr. Beer and Coopers. Do they make a fine beer?

I've made Ocktober-Fest lager quite a bit and it tasted great. The last time I made it, I tripled the volume of alcohol which modified the taste a bit but really got me feeling good lol. Nowadays, I like less alcohol volume and more taste. It isn't bad for beginners though :)

The free masons are a historic organization dedicated to improving themselves and the surrounding community. There are a lot of people that believe the masons are focused on power or world domination or whatever. The bottom line is that the masons only want for the betterment of themselves and community. If you are interested in them further, you must contact an active mason to ask more.:mug:

ok thanks for shining some light on that. Guess ive watched some documentary on history channel or something and seemed prestigious club thanks again for the quick response!1 still trying to learn this forum

We Masons do a lot for the community and kids, especially kids who are under-privileged. As a Shriner, I support Shriners hospitals which also does a lot of good. No illuminati stuff here haha aside from joking about goats to new candidates :p

With your busy lifestyle, brewing will soon take over. My gpa was a bigshot Mason, I know he and his buddies enjoyed lots of brews together. I recommend small batches, less time, great way to learn, and if you do 2.5G batches you get a case of beer with each batch. I do 2.5G BIAB to experiment all the time.
