All Right went through the sticky no help in this area I have A couple of mr. beer kegs but hate the spicket my question is how can i modify that drill it to fit the better ones you can find at the LHBS pics would be great

Many of us still keep our brown kegs...It's no better or worse than any other fermenter. It's just a tool, and it's the brewer that determines of good or bad comes out of it.

It's great for small test batches and can even be used to lager in a normal home fridge for people who don't have a dedicated one.

Also many extract stovetop brewers get their first taste of all grain brewing on their stove top fermenting in that and using an unmodified 2 gallon cooler, or even chubby boys mini keg lauter ton http://sites.google.com/site/chubbykidhomebrew/Home/equipment/mini-keg-lauter-tun

So it's not something to think is somehow less than any other tool of ours.

WOAH! I never thought of that! My college roommate gave me a Mr. beer keg when we were moving out. It has sat in my brew closet unused ever since. That is an absolutely fabulous idea. I can comfortably mash 6 lbs of grain on my stove, which would be perfect for my first all-grain lager.

You've given some helpful information in the past when I was just starting... but you've outdone yourself.

I did a whole primer and posted a bunch of AG recipe for the mr beer in the mr beer thread.....People tie the plastic keg too heavily with the ingredients that went into it.

Forgetting it is a perfectly serviceable, low profile 2.5 gallon fermenter. If you can make pretty crappy kit beers in it, what's do say that you can't make GREAT beer in it.
 
+1 on the new spigot.

A few orders ago, I bought the replacement spigots, plus a spare. They work great. Releatively cheap also, given the cost of shipping on extract cans as part of the order :drunk:

I have found, though, now I almost never use the spigot. Only for samples. I have a bottling bucket, and prime the whole batch and bottle from the bucket and not with dry sugar in the bottles directly. I get more consistent carbonation that way.
