I'm new to kegging, and I don't have a kegerator yet. can I just place a corny keg in an ice bath to keep the beer cold? and if so, will it do any damage to the keg? I want to be able to move the keg around for things like BBQs and other gatherings.

Do I just carbonate the beer then disconnect the Co2? and how long will the carbonation last? assuming there is no leaks.

If you are going to be moving it a lot you may want to let it condition in one spot under pressure for a couple weeks to let it clear and allow sediment to collect at the bottom, then transfer it to another keg, leaving the sediment behind. Otherwise every time you move it you'll stir the sediment up.
