I just purchased a counterflow chiller used a few days ago. Since I have no idea what's inside or if it was cleaned after the last use, what's a good way of cleaning the gunk out of it? Any special chemicals/solutions? Thanks

Mix a solution of water and white vinegar , boil that solution and circulate that through the chiller. That is all I did and after use I fill with sanitizer and cap the ends.

I pump cleaner though it because I now have a pump, but before that, I hosed it out, then sent boiling water down it. I store it "dry" and always send about 3 gallons of boiling water down it before I use it. Never had an infection so far.
