I'm bottle 5ga tomorrow and want to fill the carboy right back up again. I used to just pour the wort right on top of the yeast cake, but I had over pitching issues. I am using kveik M12.

How much of the yeast cake should I use?

Should I just use the cake or some of the beer, too? I've heard the yeast at the bottom is the less viable yeast that flocculated early.

Unless your finding out the cell count it's a crap shoot. You could dump just a little bit , which would be the stuff on the very bottom and I think you'll be fine.

I'm not sure but I think yeast slurry contains 1-2 billion cells per ml. Don't quote me but I think I read that .
