I cant remember/find the accepted percentage of sugar that can be put into a beer. I think it is 10% am I wrong.
thanks.

A lot of times it depends on the beer. Stick with 10% until you know what you are doing and what it will contribute to the beer. Just adding it to spike the alcohol, or make the beer cheaper, can result in hurting the flavor of the beer.

In some Belgians I've gone 20 to 25%.

Depends on the recipe..

A Belgian and 20 % or. even more is fine.

adding a bunch of sugar to a recipe that is not designed for it is a recipe for disaster.

I ended up adding about 1.5 lb's of turbinado, or 9.3% of the grain bill. Its bubbling away happily as I type. Thanks for all the input!
