So I'm ready to brew a clone of a clone of Green Flash West Coast IPA. Actually, it's just a slight modification on Jamil's clone of the awesome West Coast IPA. Some stats on my recipe: OG: 1.069 SG, FG: 1.015 SG, 103.2 IBU, 8.5 SRM, 7% ABV. I have 2 vials of Wyeast WLP001.

Should I make a starter with this much yeast? If so, how much? 1L?

Ooooh! I like this MrMalty thing! I have 2 vials, so the calculator recommends 2 vials and a 1L started (for a 5.5 gal. batch). Thanks!

So I had plans to brew today, but that didn't work quite the way I thought. So brew day will be tomorrow. In any event, I made a 1L starter from 2 vials of Wyeast WLP001 last night:

After 11 hours on the stir plate this morning:

At some point during the day, I stopped the stir plate to see how everything would settle. After about an hour or two:

So, is the stuff on the bottom yeast or a mixture of yeast and trub? And when I pitch tomorrow afternoon, can I just dump it all in? I plan on turning the stir plate back on and letting it go overnight and tomorrow until pitch time.
