I'm about to bottle a brown ale by bottle priming and I wanted to know how much priming sugar I should use per 550ml bottle (they may even be 560ml, they're Newcastle Brown Ale bottles)? I've been using 3ml per bottle but some seem more carbonated than others.

I don't have a bottling bucket and, for the time being, don't intend to get one.

Any ideas how much per bottle?

Check one of the many carbonation calculators which can be found online through the use of google. I say this in general without directly answering your question because it cannot be directly answered without knowing how much co2 volume you want and the highest temp reached in your fermentation process.
