Did I do the right thing with setting the FWHs to 20 min to get somewhat accurate IBUs in Beersmith? I want this beer to have alot of hop flavor as well as aroma. Would you change anything? Thanks.

I think it sounds tasty, but you'll never taste the citrus peel with all those hops.

You might consider using fresh zest and a lot more of it. I don't care for the dried peel flavor very much.

I would drink it. I wouldn't use a 30 min addition though. What yeast do you plan on using? I would lean more towards using WLP001 but one of the Belgian variaties might put an interesting spin on an already interesting brew.

Thanks, I'll look into using the zest.

Yeah I didn't know about the 30 min addition, you think I could just add that towards the end or just take it out altogether?

I washed some german ale yeast, wyeast 1007 from my american wheat. I like the characteristics of that beer, so I figured I'd use this yeast for it as well as a kolsch I wanna brew.

Do you guys know if I entered the right info to Beersmith..20min time for the FWHs?

when would u add the zest? boil or in the fermenter?
thanks

I have had success adding at flame out and in secondary. If you're going to do flame out, you will need quite a bit because fermentation will scrub a lot of the flavor/aroma out.

Bitter orange peel doesn't give much orange flavor IMO, but it gives bitterness which can be used to augment your bitterness.

I'm gonna buy my grain tomorrow, don't know when I'll brew but I'll keep ya updated on how I exactlly put this together.

This is what I would up brewing.. gonna take it off the hops and peel tomorrow to put in the keg. Prob put some pressure on it and let it age a week or so before I try it. This was my first AG batch and first time for FWH hops..LOL decided to do a more involved beer for my first one I guess. Had to boil down the wort to my preboil amount a bit (.25gal) before starting the 60 min boil. Ended up at 1.053 and 1.010.
