Planning on brewing my first batch of EF Porter this weekend. I will have to buy the complete grain bill and a packet of Safale-04. But I am wondering if the hops I have on hand would be suitable. I have plenty of Magnum, Centennial and Cascade. Any ideas how these might work? Thanks, Mike

My suggestion - Look up style guidelines for the beer, get an IBU range, plug in the numbers, and just try it! One 60 min addition, one 20 min, and one 5 would be my suggestion (5 min addition shouldn't be too substantial).

Or, find a porter recipe on here, and substitute the hops you have for what they used, making sure to correct for different AA%.

Beautiful thing about homebrewing is you can experiment and try something new! I can't imagine that it wouldn't turn out quite wonderfully with the hops mentioned.
