Can anybody tell me how to train the vines to go up horizontal twine lines vs vertical? Have seen some trellis' set up w/their lines going horizontal about 3-6" apart.

Easy: spend time wrapping bines around your lines. You'll have to keep up with the plants once they hit their stride and are growing a foot each day, because the bines will want to grow vertically and you could quickly have a tangled jumble in your hands...

I use 1/4" coir as it provides the bines plenty of grip and it seems damned near indestructible. This will be the fourth year I've reused the same drops and honestly there seems to be no end in sight for this stuff.

But any coarse thick twine will work for at least one year. I'd avoid synthetics as they tend to be slippery...

Cheers!
