Ok, I am making this tomorrow..

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=38282

but i found only whole hops with 6% aau (2oz) and pellets with 4% (1/2oz)

Should I knock down the 60min hop 1/2 and ounce to get my IBUs down?

If I use all 2.0 oz at 60min, i am at 42 IBU, and If i use only 1.5oz, it is at 31 IBU

FWIW Brown Porters style IBU is 18.0-35.0

thanks for any info.

I would adjust the 60 min addition to give you the correct IBU addition. So I guess it would be 1.5oz of your 6% hops.

Don't change the 15 minute addition too much, use 1/2 oz of either, maybe the 4% to keep the IBUs down.

Yep.. thats what I had.. just wanted to check with someone.. this is my second AG batch..

thanks beerrific..

I just wanted to say I think beeriffics' advice is solid. adjusting your hops when the alpha acid % is lower/higher than the recipe dictates is a simple as adjusting the quantity you add.
This is where a good kitchen scale is needed. Sometimes the difference is by a value of .25 ounces, which is about 7-8grams. $20 or so for a digital scale from Bed Bath & Beyond is all it really takes...no need for a triple beam :)

hopefully that info will be useful to you or someone following the thread.
