If u want to do it, I would say just get some rhizomes and get them in the ground next spring. You'll need to put some time into picking and setting up a spot, and watering at least occasionally, but you could ignore setting up strings and harvesting. Let the plant develop its roots and crawl up whatever it will. I have two new first year plants in big (real big) planters like that now.
