Hey everyone,

New to forum life so forgive any ignorance.

So I have been brewing mead exclusively for about 4 years now. Improving and experimenting with every new batch.

My son Rowan’s first birthday is in a few weeks and I wanted to brew a Rowan berry batch of mead to drink on his legal drinking birthday. I am planning on testing it every year but do you think it would keep for 20 yrs?

make sure alcohol content is reasonably high. the main thing will be good quality corks and good storage protocol

@wildmazer thanks for the reply.
I am pretty impatient with my meads so I don’t really store them per say. The higher abv keeps bacteria at bay I assume?

I was actually thinking of getting an oak aging barrel? Any thoughts on that?

thanks again!

Higher alcohol, plenty of sulfite, high quality corks, and the most important thing is controlled storage temp. I’ve read higher tannin levels help...or maybe that was the reason to need aging.
