Can somone explain to me which Hop I should use in Hefe? I assume that I just strain out the whole hops and whatever is remaining from the Plugs and pellets or do they dissolve completely? I obviously never used hops and would like some help. thanks.....

Whole, Plug or pellets?

Use hallertau: 3/4 oz bittering, 1/4 aroma

You can use a hop bag thingy. With the small amounts of hops in a hefe you might just let it go if you are using pellets. Or you can stain it as it goes into the fermenter.

I use the Hallertauer hops as well 1/2 bittering 1/2 aromatic, coming out of the primary it had a nice flavor to it. I could see where the 3/4 1/4 configuration might do a Hefe more justice though. I used pellet form, and strained, going into my primary.

For German Hefe Weizens you can use Hallertau, Spalt, or Tettnager.

Most people use Hallertau.

When using whole hops you want to use about 10% more than pellet weight.

I use a nylon net on my bucket to capture them and sparge the wort off with cold water.
