The question popped up.. I want to try to grow some hops next season. I have a bit of history growing vegetables and was wondering how that experience translated to hops.

I was wondering if hops cross pollenate and if it's an issue. I know when I plant peppers and grow hot peppers and mild peppers side by side.. cross pollination makes them all hot.

I'm sure the rootstock will not be compromised, but will the hops likely take on different characteristics if one type planted next to the other.

Cross-pollination probably doesn't happen very often. When you buy rhizomes or crowns or rooted cuttings, I'm pretty sure they're always female. So unless there was a rogue male plant in the neighborhood your plants are unlikely to produce seed at all...

Cheers!
