I did a batch with lots of late hop additions saturday. Recipe is here:

Pretty much followed it as it is. I was just wondering if I was supposed to be able to smell and taste the hops in the chilled wort? As I tasted it it was sweet and really bitter. But no specific hop taste or smell or anything. Does that come over time or is it hiding behind the sweetness / bitterness? It's now in the fermenter and will be what it is. I don't plan on dry hopping. Just wondering.
Thanks!

It is very difficult to pick up hop flavor in unfermented wort. Fermentation will have profound effects on the flavor.

What you smelled was about all you'll get while it's still "green". No worries,it'll come out to play later...
