FYI: Average weight of 1 US gallon of honey is (approx.) 12 lbs.

Seems about avereage, depending on where you are of course. Around here, average price per lb is about $3.00/lb. That's for clover or "wildflower" honey; something from further away or more exotic would be significantly more.
I'd buy orange blossom for $3.18/lb any day.
